There's been a lot of buzz this week about Donald Glover's horror TV show Swarm, which premieres today (March 17). The latest updates include the series EP soundtrack being released and Billie Eilish sharing a teaser of her dramatic acting debut in the show.
For context, the Amazon Prime series is about a woman (Dominique Fishback) overcome by her increasingly dire fandom for a Beyoncé-like pop star named Ni’jah, who’s played by Nirine S. Brown. The songs in the soundtrack comprise the canon of the show’s fictional star Ni’jah, voiced by Kirby. Glover executive produced the tracks with Michael Uzowuru, featuring contributions from Fam Udeorji, Teo Halm, Jeff Kleinman, and more.
As for Billie Eilish, the young singer posted a creepy clip of her from Swarm onto Instagram yesterday, thus confirming her involvement in the show. She and Dre are seen in an extreme close-up discussing ominous "red milk" spilled onto the carpet.
Eilish also posted photos of herself from the Swarm red carpet onto social media. The announcement of her casting comes just after Donald Glover/Childish Gambino performed alongside her during a homecoming show on her birthday back in December. Swarm marks Eilish's proper acting debut. Previously, she appeared in sketches during a stint on Saturday Night Live.
Glover co-created Swarm with Atlanta writer Janine Nabors. Childish Gambino has continued his onscreen output in recent years, wrapping up Atlanta after four seasons in late 2022. He’s also in the forthcoming Prime Video adaptation of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and will be taking on the role of a villain named Hypno-Hustler in an as yet untitled Spider-Man installment. Glover’s latest Childish Gambino album, 3.15.20, came out in 2020.
