Aerosmith Announce Farewell Tour

After 50 years as a group, 10 world treks, and playing live for over 100 million fans, Aerosmith have shared dates for their final tour. The Peace Out Tour is set to run from September 2023 to January 2024. The legendary rock band will be joined by the Black Crowes for the farewell gig.

The 40-date tour begins in Philadelphia (September 2) and is scheduled to wrap up January 26, 2024 in Montreal. The hometown show for Boston on the tour is slated for New Year’s Eve. All dates go on sale this Friday (May 5) at 10 a.m. local time. You can find more information on Aerosmith's website.

Joey Kramer will not be performing on Aerosmith’s Peace Out Tour, just as he did not take part in the 2022 dates of the group’s Las Vegas residency. Instead, John Douglas will drum in Kramer’s place.

In a statement, Aerosmith explained: “While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”

Singer Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarists Joe Perry and Ray Tabano formed Aerosmith in 1970. Tabano left the group and was replaced by Brad Whitford before Aerosmith released their self-titled debut in 1973. The group went on their first major headlining tour in '76, and would go on to release 14 more studio albums.

Although Aerosmith's big announcement only refers to a retirement from touring, the group has been inactive as a recording unit in recent years, not having released a new album in more than a decade. However, according to Variety, Joe Perry did say in 2019 the band had plans to go in the studio and record new material. The last Aerosmith studio album, Music From Another Dimension!, was released in 2012. Their most recent release, 1971: The Road Starts Here, was a collection of the band’s very first demos. In 2021, the band signed a distribution deal for its catalog with Universal Music Group, covering five decades’ worth of albums that originally came out on Columbia and Geffen.
