A man was arrested yesterday (Oct. 17) on suspicion of vandalizing a statue of David Bowie in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England just hours after it was professionally cleaned and waxed.
The artwork, titled "Earthly Messenger," is a life-size bronze statue that plays Bowie's music every hour and was funded through grants and a crowdfunding campaign led by David Stopps. It features several of Bowie's personas, with Ziggy Stardust in the center.
This is the second time the statue was defaced since it was installed in March.
Stopps, upset, told BBC, "Bowie fans are coming from all over the world to see the statue and this really doesn't do justice to the thousands of local people that supported this project." He also stated that the work will be "restored to its former glory as soon as possible."
