It's only been 7 months since Lana Del Rey released her noteworthy record Chemtrails Over the Country Club. Today (October 22), the singer has dropped her second album of 2021: Blue Banisters.
The album was originally titled Rock Candy Sweet, but the name was changed. The original release date was set for July, but Del Rey had to push it back to October.
Despite the delay, the singer made sure to keep fans hooked. In May, she shared three new songs, describing them as “buzz tracks” in anticipation of a new record. Those tunes were Blue Banisters' title track, “Text Book,” and “Wildflower Wildfire.” She later shared another single titled “Arcadia.”
Blue Banisters was released through Interscope Records and Polydor Records. Del Rey produced the album alongside Gabe Simon, Zachary Dawes, Drew Erickson, Dean Reid, Loren Humphrey, Mike Dean, Barrie-James O’Neill, and Rick Nowels. Nowels has been a frequent collaborator, working with Del Rey on almost every album. This time around, he only has credits on one song, “Cherry Blossom.”
In other Lana Del Rey news, the singer released an audiobook version of her poetry collection Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass last summer. Like Blue Banisters, it was released via Interscope. It also features music from frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff.
Blue Banisters is now available to stream and CDs, vinyl, cassette tapes, and more can be purchased on Del Rey's online store.
