KISS Unveil Upcoming Las Vegas Residency
Legendary costumed rock band KISS have released details about their second Las Vegas residency. The band confirmed last week they would be playing 12 shows on the Zappos Theater stage in the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino from late December until early February.
KISS previously completed a nine-date residency at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in 2014. Their run was released as the KISS Rocks Vegas concert film two years later.
KISS will perform at the Zappos Theater in 2021 on December 29 and 31. Then, they'll take the stage next year on: January 1, 19, 21, 22, 26, 28, 29, and February 2, 4, and 5. Tickets go on general sale Friday (August 20) at 10am local time. You can purchase yours here. A pre-sale for the KISS ARMY Fan Club is already happening. Talking to Rolling Stone, bassist Gene Simmons explained the band's return to Vegas.
"There are matters of the heart and then there are matters of the pocket," he said, "and it’s nice when they both converge. So it’s a very nice payday. (The shows) pay well and that’s reason enough. But it’s also easier for the band because you don’t have the wear and tear of travelling."
Simmons also explained the usual grandiose level of KISS concerts will be scaled down a bit for Vegas.
"Anything that’s got a roof on it, we have to scale back the pyro or we’ll blow the roof off, literally,” he said. “But we are planning lots of surprises for Vegas, which nobody’s seen yet. We’re in the middle of putting that together."
In other KISS news, the band recently resumed the U.S. leg of their End Of The Road world tour, after previously postponing the dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They also released a new documentary, Biography: KISStory, which played on A&E in June and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The band even gave a mini rock concert to festival attendees.
Additionally, Gene Simmons revealed in a recent interview he is in favor of vaccine mandates at concerts as live music returns amid COVID-19 concerns. “We are not allowing roadies or anybody else to be anywhere backstage unless they’re vaccinated and the masks are on the whole time,” he said.
