Foo Fighters Cancel All Tour Dates Following Death of Drummer Taylor Hawkins

After Taylor Hawkins' sudden death was announced to the public, the surviving members of Foo Fighters immediately cancelled all upcoming South American shows. Now, the band is cancelling all other tour dates until further notice.

“We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned,” the band wrote in an official statement. “Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together.”

No details have arrived yet regarding if and how tickets will be refunded. The cancellations include international tour dates planned all the way through December. Foo Fighters’ statement did not mention the band’s planned performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards, which was announced on March 24. Hawkins died the day after the announcement.

Taylor Hawkins died at a hotel in Bogotá, Colombia ahead of the band’s scheduled show at Festival Estéreo Picnic. While no cause of death has been officially announced, toxicologists found opioids, marijuana, and other psychoactive substances and medicines in Hawkins' system at the time of death. The drummer’s last show with Foo Fighters took place on March 20 at Lollapalooza Argentina in Buenos Aires. The late musician was 50 years old.

News of Hawkins’ death prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and peers alike. Miley Cyrus, Mick Jagger, Brian Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Questlove, Perry Farrell, Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, Axl Rose, Tom Morello, and many more have paid their respects to the late drummer.
