Beyoncé has revealed the tracklist for her new album Renaissance, which is out July 29.
In addition to the dancehall single “Break My Soul,” the 16-song album will include songs intriguingly titled “America Has a Problem,” “Alien Superstar,” “Church Girl,” “Cuff It,” “Thique,” "Virgo's Groove," “All Up in Your Mind,” and more. Beyoncé revealed all of the tracks in a story posted to her Instagram.
Queen Bey announced Renaissance, her first solo studio album since 2016’s critically-acclaimed Lemonade, in mid-June. “Break My Soul,” which is an ode to Robin S.' classic house cut "Show Me Love," arrived a few days later.
On June 30, Beyoncé revealed the cover art for her new album: an image of her sitting on a holographic horse behind a black background. It's an image that recalls both John Collier’s Lady Godiva painting and a photograph of Bianca Jagger entering Studio 54 on a white horse on her 30th birthday.
In a note accompanying the artwork, Beyoncé wrote: “Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
Renaissance is expected to feature both dance and country-leaning tracks, although there's still no clarity as to whether the country songs will appear as a separate album, or as part of the first edition of Renaissance.
