Among other music events coming back after a brutal 2020, Travis Scott's music festival Astroworld is returning for its third year this fall.
The first two iterations of Astroworld happened in 2018 and 2019 - the festival skipped setting any dates last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Tuesday (October 26) an official lineup was announced for the 2021 edition. Tame Impala, SZA, Bad Bunny, and Earth, Wind & Fire will all headline while Lil Baby, Young Thug, Yves Tumor, Chief Keef, Toro y Moi, Baby Keem, 21 Savage, Bia, Don Toliver, and even Travis Scott himself will make appearances.
“Welcome to the utopia,” Travis wrote alongside his announcement on Instagram. “We morphed the grounds into a new universe this year. Can’t wait for y’all to see it. And I’m bringing some Avengers wit me.” He also shared that while the show is sold out, he “finessed a bit more” to get tickets for his fans.
Calling Astroworld Festival a "utopia" seems to be a reference to Travis’ upcoming fourth studio album, Utopia. It is anticipated to arrive before the end of this year.
While the full festival runs from November 2-8, the musical portion of the event will be held November 5 and 6. Tickets can be purchased here. Be warned: while the price tag is hefty, the last iteration of tickets sold out within the hour.
In other Travis Scott news, the artist is set to headline the Day N Vegas festival the weekend after Astroworld, alongside Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, the Creator. Tickets can be found here.
Recently, Scott's film company Cactus Jack Films signed a production deal with movie distributor A24 (Moonlight, Lady Bird, Uncut Gems). Scott announced the collaboration on Instagram with a photo of a “first draft” script with the A24 logo and the mostly-censored title Utopia. Variety reports the film project will closely align with his upcoming album. A24 is also set to make an appearance at Astroworld. On the final day of the festival, a Texas homecoming screening of the new Sean Baker movie Red Rocket will be held with the cast and crew.
