The lineup for the 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show has been announced! And it will be a star-studded affair: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar are all set to perform on February 13 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The show, put together in partnership with the NFL, Pepsi, and Roc Nation, will be the first time that all five superstars share the stage together. It will also be the first time that the Super Bowl will take place in Los Angeles in 30 years, being housed in the new stadium home to both the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers. Finally, it is a bigger Halftime Show after the subdued (yet still great) performance The Weeknd gave last season when the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic influenced many restrictions.
“The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career,” Dre said in a statement. “I’m grateful to JAY-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment.”
Dr. Dre is the connective force behind all the artists, having produced songs, albums, or collaborations for each of the four superstars. Dre produced Snoop’s debut album Doggystyle, while Eminem and Lamar spent large parts of their careers signed to Dre’s Aftermath Records. All of the four artists have appeared on Dr. Dre’s albums through the years.
To get a sense of how historic and big next year's Halftime Show will be, it's worth noting the five artists have a combined 44 Grammy wins to their names. Eminem has the most with 15 while Kendrick Lamar follows closely with 13. Mary J. Blige has 9 and Dr. Dre holds onto 7. Snoop hasn't won any golden gramophones yet, but has received 15 nominations in his career.

“This year we are blowing the roof off the concept of collaboration,” PepsiCo Senior VP of Media, Sports and Entertainment Adam Harter said in a statement. “Along with the NFL and Roc Nation, we continue to try and push the limits on what fans can expect during the most exciting 12 minutes in music; this year’s superstar line-up is sure to deliver a mind-blowing performance.”
This is the third year Roc Nation, Pepsi, and the NFL have collaborated on the Halftime Show. The event will be produced by DPS, executive produced by Roc Nation and Jesse Collins, and directed by Hamish Hamilton. The first year of the partnership produced Shakira and Jennifer Lopez's duet in 2020. This year, The Weeknd took the stage by himself. Both of those Super Bowls, and their Pepsi Halftime Shows, received Emmy nominations for Outstanding Variety Special (live).
“On Feb. 13, 2022, at the Super Bowl LVI in Inglewood, CA, in the new SoFi Stadium, Dr. Dre, a musical visionary from Compton, Snoop Dogg, an icon from Long Beach and Kendrick Lamar, a young musical pioneer in his own right, also from Compton, will take center field for a performance of a lifetime," JAY-Z said in a statement. “They will be joined by the lyrical genius, Eminem and the timeless Queen, Mary J. Blige. This is the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. This is history in the making.”
Pepsi VP Marketing Todd Kaplan also made a remark in response to the lineup.
“The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show has become a landmark cultural moment," he said, "bringing about some of the most iconic performances over the years -- from J.Lo and Shakira to Lady Gaga to The Weeknd -- and we are thrilled to bring together such an incredible array of talented, record-breaking musicians to put on a performance for the ages.”
In addition to the musical event, the NFL and Pepsi will join forces to help the launch of Regional School #1, a magnet high school in south Los Angeles supported by Dre's USC Iovine and Young Academy program. It’s set to open for students next fall as part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
As with all Super Bowls, the big game and performance will be aired on NBC.
