If you're reading this, it's too late: Daft Punk broadcasted a one-off stream of a concert recorded before the French duo began wearing helmets! Fortunately, there's more news to report about the robotic team - including an announcement that they will reissue their 1997 album Homework on vinyl.
Going back to the livestream news, the concert footage from December 12, 1997 aired yesterday, February 22: the one-year anniversary of the duo's official breakup. Without any warning or media declarations, the footage aired on Daft Punk's Twitch channel.
The video came from a set Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter played at Los Angeles nightclub The Mayan around the release of their debut album Homework. According to Pitchfork, a representative for Daft Punk stressed the show will air on Twitch only once. As to be expected though, some fans were able to capture the stream and upload it to other internet video platforms before it was too late.
Daft Punk also announced a vinyl reissue of Homework for its 25th anniversary. The Homework vinyl and a vinyl reissue of Alive ’97 will be out April 15. You can pre-order them here.
The digital version of Homework (25th Anniversary Edition) is out now. It comes with 15 remixes from the original album: nine of which have never been shared on digital streaming platforms before. Remixers include DJ Sneak, Todd Terry, Kenlou, I:Cube, and Roger Sanchez and Junior Sanchez.
