After releasing the similarly-titled single back in June, Gorillaz have announced their latest album: Cracker Island.
Out February 24, 2023, the 10-track record will include features from Tame Impala and Bootie Brown, Thundercat, Bad Bunny, Stevie Nicks, Beck, and Adeleye Omotayo. The album was recorded in London and Los Angeles earlier this year, and produced by Greg Kurstin, Remi Kabaka Jr., and Gorillaz themselves. In a press release, the album was described as an “energetic, upbeat, genre-expansive collection.”
"New Gold," which was just released yesterday (August 31), was first performed live by Gorillaz with Tame Impala and Bootie Brown at London's All Points East Festival on August 19 before the song was publicly dropped. It comes with a visualizer that sees the members of Gorillaz intertwined with golden imagery.
Cracker Island follows the 2021 Meanwhile EP, the 2020 collection Song Machine: Season One - Strange Timez, and the June 2018 album The Now Now. As for other news about the group, Gorillaz and Damon Albarn are currently in the midst of a world tour, which is headed to North America soon.
You can pre-save and pre-order Cracker Island on Gorillaz's official website.
