Björk has announced she will be running her immersive theatrical tour Cornucopia in Los Angeles and San Francisco next year for five performances.
Cornucopia supports the electronic artist’s 2017 album Utopia and is her first official theatrical concert tour. It is directed by Argentine filmmaker Lucrecia Martel. The stage, designed by Chiara Stevenson, is meant to resemble fungi.
The announced shows are scheduled for early 2022 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on January 26, 29, and February 1. The two San Francisco shows will then take place at the Chase Center on February 5 and 8.
The first Cornucopia shows happened in May 2019, with an eight-night residency at the New York venue The Shed. The 19-song setlist included the first time Björk performed her songs "Venus As A Boy," "Hidden Place," and "Show Me Forgiveness" in over a decade. In November 2019, Björk brought the tour to London, with a show at the O2.
Cornucopia features a 50-piece Icelandic ensemble The Hamrahild Choir, a seven-piece flute band, a harp, and several instruments specifically designed for the tour. The show also features a video speech by climate activist Greta Thunberg, and costumes for the tour were designed by fashion chain Balmain.
Cornucopia isn't the only concert experience Björk is offering. The singer has recently announced new fall 2021 dates for her livestreamed orchestral shows, following multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The series will see her perform with different collaborators over each of the four dates in October and November, including members of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, Flute Septet Viibra, and Hamrahlíð Choir.
