'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' Biopic Gets Release Date

"Weird Al" Yankovic's wacky-looking biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story has finally been given a release date. The film, which stars Daniel Radcliffe as the Hawaiian shirt-loving songwriter, will premiere on the Roku Channel Friday, November 4, 2022.

The release date was announced with an official poster for the film, which shows Yankovic below the Hollywood sign with the film’s title across the back of his jacket. The film was directed and co-written by Eric Appel and co-produced by Funny or Die and Tango, and Yankovic was involved on the project as a writer and producer.

The upcoming movie is inspired by a 2010 Eric Appel Funny or Die video sketch that starred Aaron Paul and Olivia Wilde. In addition to Radcliffe as the titular character, the new movie also stars Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Quinta Brunson as Oprah Winfrey, and Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento (the radio show host that catapulted "Weird Al" to fame).

Yesterday, "Weird Al" announced on social media that his crew had finished the sound mix for the movie. Earlier this year, Roku shared a teaser trailer for the film. In other related news, a Z2 Comics “Weird Al” Yankovic graphic novel will be out in November.
