Pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne has just received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her ceremony coincided with the 20th anniversary of her debut album Let Go.
During the event, the artist reflected on her first trip to Los Angeles at 16, even unveiling a picture of herself from that trip showing her in a navy hoodie with the words “Skateboarding is a Crime.” Avril made a surprise quick change into that same sweatshirt mid-speech. Later on, she posed by her star almost the exact same way as her sixteen-year-old self from the photo.
“Today, I love making music more than ever,” the singer said from the podium. “I feel so inspired. And I hope that the next 16-year-old from their small town who comes to Hollywood one day, full of hopes and dreams, sees this star and thinks to themself, ‘Oh my god, my name could be there one day, too.’ Because it can...What an amazing 20 years, and I can’t wait for the next 20, b----es! Let’s go!”
“Bois Lie” collaborator Machine Gun Kelly and Love Sux producer John Feldmann also spoke during the ceremony. Other attendees included Lavigne's fiancé Mod Sun, Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden, Ryan Cabrera, Jxdn, and co-writer Lauren Christy.
In other Lavigne news, the singer will be headlining the upcoming When We Were Young festival alongside Paramore and My Chemical Romance in Las Vegas next month. Last month, Lavigne and Machine Gun Kelly released a stripped-down acoustic version of “Bois Lie."
