Green Day to Sell Career-Spanning Equipment Collection
With the help of music-based e-commerce site Reverb, Green Day is selling more than 100 pieces of their equipment that has been used throughout the band's career. The online shop, which launches on Feb. 7, will offer guitars, drum sets, amps, and other music equipment that the band has used on tour as well as in the studio.
“Every guitar has its own character. Each one reflects who you are — the kind of songwriter you are, the kind of guitar player that you are. Used guitars, in particular, come with a history to them. I love the character you can see looking at a fretboard that’s been used,” frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said in the preview video about their shop. “After 30 years of collecting odds and ends and really good stuff… I have to sell some of it off.”
Nearly 50 of Armstrong’s personal guitars as well as drummer Tre Cool's 5 drum sets and 12 snare drums will be among the equipment collection that will be available in the shop.
