Neil Young and Crazy Horse Announce New Album 'Colorado' & Share New Song 'Milky Way'

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have recently announced their first new album in seven years. Entitled Colorado, the album is due out Oct. 25 via Reprise. A new song from the album, "Milky Way," is out now.

In April, Young teased the album on the Neil Young Archives. “We believe we have a great Crazy Horse album, one to stand alongside Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Rust Never Sleeps, Sleeps With Angels, Psychedelic Pill and all the others.”

The current lineup of Crazy Horse is: Neil Young (guitars, vocals, piano, vibes, harmonica), Nils Lofgren (guitars, vocals, pump organ), Ralph Molina (drums, vocals), and Billy Talbot (bass, vocals). As the title suggests, they recorded the album live in a studio high up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Neil Young produced the album alongside John Hanlon.

Colorado will be available in 2 formats: high resolution digital audio through the Neil Young Archives and a three-sided double vinyl which includes a 7” vinyl single with the first-ever performance of “Rainbow Of Colors” and studio B-side “Truth Kills.”

A documentary called Mountaintop Sessions, which chronicles the making of the album, will be released in over 100 theaters worldwide the week that the album debuts. Young noted that the documentary is “a wild one, folks, no holds barred. ... You will see the whole process just as it went down! Warts and all! I don’t think a film about this subject with the openness and intensity we have captured has ever been seen.”
