To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Tame Impala's first album InnerSpeaker, a short film documenting the creation of the album has been released on YouTube.
InnerSpeaker Memories spans 15 minutes and was directed by Matt Sav. It was captured as Kevin Parker worked on his first project at the remote Wave House Studio in Western Australia, which the artist now owns. The homemade movie shows Parker listening to DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing..... in the car, twiddling knobs on his desk, having a jam session with the band, and more.
Besides the documentary, Tame Impala has also released a deluxe four-LP reissue of InnerSpeaker. The expanded boxed set includes new mixes of album tracks, instrumentals, a 40-page booklet, and more.
Released in May 2010, InnerSpeaker reached No. 4 on the ARIA charts, was nominated for the J Award and an ARIA Award, and has been certified Platinum. Since that debut album, Tame Impala has released three more albums. The most recent to drop, The Slow Rush, went Top 5 on both sides of the Atlantic, was nominated for two Grammy Awards, and won a few ARIA Awards, including Album of the Year, Best Group, and Best Rock Album.
Tame Impala will begin an international tour of the Americas starting July 22 at Foro Sol in Mexico City. An arena tour of Australia and New Zealand will kick off Dec. 5 at Auckland's Spark Arena, culminating with a hometown concert Dec. 18 at RAC Arena in Perth.
