The Oscars are only a few days away (March 27), and now, performers at the event have been announced. blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, singer and percussionist Sheila E., DJ D-Nice and the Samples, pianist Robert Glasper, and music director Adam Blackstone will all make appearances during Hollywood's biggest night.
Details of these performances are currently under wraps, but more musical performance announcements will be made leading up to the show on Sunday. In addition to the performers, a live orchestra will also return to the event after being shelved during last year's COVID-19 conscious gathering.
On Friday, March 18, DJ D-Nice was joined by special guests as he hosted the Oscars Club Quarantine pre-party, which broadcasted live on the Academy's Instagram page. After the ceremony on the 27th, D-Nice will also perform at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science’s post-show celebration, the Governors Ball (not to be confused with the music festival of the same name).
As for some music-related nominations, Beyoncé is nominated for her first Oscar this year with her King Richard song “Be Alive.” It's competing for Best Original Song against Billie Eilish's Bond song "No Time to Die," as well as against other tunes by Van Morrison, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and more. Questlove’s documentary Summer of Soul is also up for Best Original Documentary, and Jonny Greenwood is up for Best Original Score for his work on Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog.
As for Oscars presenters involved in the music industry, Lady Gaga, Halle Bailey, and Shawn Mendes will announce winners. The 94th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall as hosts. The ceremony starts at 8pm ET on ABC.
