The Mac Miller Fund, which was created in 2018 after Miller's passing, is donating $100,000 to support music programs in the late rapper's hometown of Pittsburgh.
The Homewood-Brushton YMCA will receive the donation to support their music programs for teens. Specifically, the donation will go towards The YMCA Lighthouse Project and that YMCA location's partnership with the nonprofit Tuff Sound Apprenticeship Program, which trains young adults to become sound engineers. The YMCA Lighthouse Project is a teen center where young people are encouraged to explore their interests in music, film, photography, and visual arts.
The Mac Miller Fund has raised nearly $1 million in the last year, and aims to help finance art programs for youth in underserved communities as well as provide assistance for young artists struggling with addiction.
