Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson has announced a North American fall tour. He's also dropped demos, rarities, and outtakes for fans on his new website.
Wilson's tour will begin August 29 in Long Beach, CA, followed by a month-long gap before ramping up in October and wrapping on October 23 in Waukegan, IL. He will be touring alongside collaborators Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin. Find ticket information here.
Wilson's expansive new website contains several features, including a timeline organized by decades spanning from his birth in 1942 to present day. Each decade offers a summary of Brian's life at the time, albums he released, photos, and demos. For example, the 80s' section features obscure demos, like "Let's Go to Heaven in My Car" from Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol, while the 70s and 60s have plenty of Beach Boys demos to hold fans over.
Wilson previewed the launch of his site and the timeline with a 1995 demo of “Desert Drive,” which appeared on 2004’s Gettin’ in Over My Head. Other features on Wilson's website include a page for updates, tour news, videos, quotes, a community message board for fans, an online store, and a newsletter.
“Thanks for visiting my new website,” the homepage reads. “We decided to put up some cool demos, outtakes, and live tracks you haven’t heard before. I hope you dig listening to them as much as we did making them. Stay safe and we’ll see you on tour soon!”
In other Brian Wilson news, his documentary Long Promised Road premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June. Later this month, the Beach Boys will release their highly-anticipated box set Feel Flows - The Sunflower and Surf’s Up Sessions 1969–1971. The band's remaining members have reportedly contemplated a 60th anniversary tour, however nothing has been confirmed yet.
