After officially announcing their seventh studio album last week, Arctic Monkeys have unveiled the project's lead single. It's called "There'd Better Be a Mirrorball" and it is accompanied by a dramatic new music video.
The opening track of their upcoming LP The Car, the song is the band’s first new music in four years. The lo-fi-style video – which was filmed in both black and white and color – was directed by Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner. It shows the band working on and performing "There'd Better Be a Mirrorball" in the studio.
The follow-up to 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, The Car was written by Turner and produced by James Ford. So far the band has shared the album's cover art, some track titles, and a release date: October 21. You can reserve your copy of the LP here.
Outside of new material, Arctic Monkeys' most recent release was a 2020 live album of their 2018 concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, with proceeds going to War Child UK, a charity supporting children recovering from the physical and psychological toll of surviving war.
