For the fourth year in a row, World College Radio Day has partnered with Live365 for its 24-Hour Global Marathon, which is set for Friday, October 7, 2022!
World College Radio Day (WCRD) is an international event, with student broadcasters participating all over the world. The 24-Hour Global Marathon will be exclusively streaming on Live365, with college radio stations from over 50 countries taking turns to broadcast special content.
The theme this year is "Voices for Peace," communicating that during times of global strife, student radio stands with all those who are oppressed or suffering from violence, and seeks to champion justice and support sustainable peace for everyone. The day will also find all of the participating countries and college radio stations coming together to sign a Declaration Supporting Peace.
“Live365 is once again proud to be powering the World College Radio Day 24-Hour Global Marathon,” said Live365 General Manager Jason Stoddard. “This year’s theme of ‘Voices for Peace’ resonates with current events and gives us hope that we can all make a difference in moving the world towards a more peaceful existence. Live365 is honored to be able to help WCRD and colleges around the globe in making this a reality.”
“This year’s marathon will be very special, as it will officially start in Ukraine, as the students from STUD Radio will share music and talk about their experiences of the war and their resolve to end it. It’s taken them weeks to put together and will be a very special way to start our event!” said World College Radio Day’s Dr. Rob Quicke. “We are also grateful that Live365 is again making it possible for the world of college radio to unite!”
Originally founded as College Radio Day by Quicke, the goal of World College Radio Day is to harness the combined listenership of hundreds of thousands of college radio listeners throughout the world, celebrate the important contribution of college radio, and encourage listeners to seek college radio. 2022 marks the 12th annual celebration of the unique medium, and Julian Lennon will serve as the Ambassador for World College Radio Day this year.
