Tame Impala have shared a new single. It's called "Wings of Time" and was written for the upcoming movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
“Being asked to do a track for the D&D soundtrack seemed like an unmissable opportunity to indulge in my long time love of fantasy prog rock,” Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker said in a press release. "I recruited my good friend Nicholas Allbrook, who is the person I know appreciates this subject matter the most. We rented a villa in Spain, that kind of felt like a castle, for two nights whilst on tour for Primavera. That location got us in the right frame of mind and it went from there."
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves hits movie theaters March 31, and stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, and Daisy Head. The movie – based on the iconic roleplaying game – centers on a charming thief and some unlikely adventurers on a dangerous quest to retrieve a lost relic.
"Wings of Time" comes about 24 hours after Parker revealed that he fractured his hip while running a half marathon. If you've got tickets to one of their upcoming concerts, have no fear: Parker promised all forthcoming Tame Impala shows will continue as planned. “I’m not quitting on you guys,” he wrote on Instagram.
"Wings of Time" is Parker's latest foray into film soundtracks; he joined Diana Ross for their Minions: Rise of the Gru song “Turn Up the Sunshine,” and he remixed Elvis Presley’s “Edge of Reality” for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic.
As for other music endeavors, Tame Impala recently appeared in Gorillaz' Cracker Island song "New Gold." Their 10th anniversary Lonerism box is set to be released on May 26.
