Missy Elliott has been nominated for the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame, becoming the first female rapper to be nominated for this award. If inducted, she'll be the third rapper ever to enter the Hall of Fame after Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri.

Some of Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott's own hits include "Get Ur Freak On" and "Work It." The latter won a Grammy for Best Female Rap Solo Performance as well as MTV's Video of the Year.

Not only can Elliott perform, she's also a songwriter and producer who's worked on hits for Beyonce and Whitney Houston. Elliott also wrote co-wrote and co-produced Monica's "So Gone" which took the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart for give weeks. Elliott also re-worked Patti LaBelle's 1975 hit "Lady Marmalade" which featured Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil Kim, and Mya. That song went on to win a Grammy and topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart for five weeks.
