Center Stage on Live365 this week is WFFC-DB Lexington - "Radio You Can Feel, bringing love, peace, and harmony back to our communities." We spoke with station manager Lil Jojo about their history with radio, their station's programming, and we got some music recommendations. Check out the interview below!
What made you get started in radio?
I started my career path as a DJ/rapper. I did that for many years. I also recorded several albums. I had a great ride. It opened up doors to meet and open up for acts like Biggie Smalls, Mack 10, Adina Howard, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, just to name a few. Along the way, I worked for a few local R&B stations in our area. I had always wanted to have a station. Well, to make a long story short: I became a believer of Jesus Christ and I had a desire and passion to start a Black gospel station in our area. The station we had got bought out and it had been over 20+ years before I started this one in October of 2017.
What brought you to Live365?
Well I started out with Spreaker and along the way I tried several others. Needless to say, I continued my research and came upon Live365. I loved the perks, the fact that it's user-friendly, and the licensing in 3 different countries. The process was and still is by far the winner for our outfit.
What's your favorite part about running your own radio station?
It allows me to use my imagination to meet the reality of what I've learned from my past experiences plus put my own twist on it and watch how it all unfolds.
Tell us about your station's programming. What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
My days Monday through Friday are marked by:
- New Music Monday: we play new music from indie to national artists
- Testimony Tuesday: we have a time when people call in and testify about the Lord's Grace and Love upon them
- Gospel Reggae Wednesday: we play all reggae gospel, from Papa San to George Nooks
- Throwback Thursday: we play all the oldie goldies, but also spiritual goodies from Rev. Al Green to Rev. Shirley Caesar
- Feel Free Friday: we play it all as long as we're lifting up the name of Jesus

Name one artist that you play on your station that is underrated in your opinion.
Parkes Stewart, he's an indie artist that has been with the best in the industry.
What's your favorite music memory/moment?
A couple come to mind: when I was finally a part of a movie soundtrack; the tour I did with Ryan Toby (of Sister Act) and Jo Marie Payton (mother Winslow on Family Matters); my time performing in the ATL at The Holy Hop Showcase.

She's polished and shines through her voice with strength and power. Any style or genre is her forte.
