Comedian and YouTube star Lilly Singh announced on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon last night that she will be taking over the 1:35am spot on NBC, which was previously occupied by Last Call With Carson Daly. Singh will be the only woman to host a late-night talk show on a broadcast network currently. Singh joins Fallon and Seth Meyers on NBC's late night lineup.
NBC announced in February that Last Call With Carson Daly would end after 17 years. Retitled A Little Late with Lilly Singh, the show will debut in September. Singh will serve as the executive producer as well. A Little Late will be a half-hour show with in-studio interviews and pre-taped comedy sketches and segments.
When announcing the news, Singh said, "An Indian-Canadian woman with her own late-night show? Now that is a dream come true." "I'm thrilled to bring it to life on NBC, and I hope my parents consider this to be as exciting as a grandchild."
Lilly Singh's YouTube channel, ||Superwoman||, features Singh in character in a variety of comedy sketches. She has amassed 14 million followers since she began posting videos eight years ago. The Ontario-born entertainer has also started her own production company, written a New York Times bestselling book, appeared as an actress in films like Bad Moms, Ice Age: Collision Course, and HBO’s Fahrenheit 451, and toured with a stage show in 2015. She also starred in the YouTube documentary A Trip to Unicorn Island.
