A new scripted miniseries that tells the story of the Queens hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa is coming to Lifetime.
Titled Salt-N-Pepa, the show will follow the journey of Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton from nursing school students to successful female rap act. Their hits, including "Push It," “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “What a Man,” and “Shoop,” will be featured in the miniseries as well. James and Denton will serve as executive producers alongside Jesse Collins, and Flavor Unit’s Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere. Abdul Williams is writing the show that currently has no air date, but is expected for programming in 2020.
Lifetime also announced a new original film about the Detroit gospel icons the Clark Sisters. The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel will be executive produced by Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, and Missy Elliott, with Christine Swanson directing.
