For the first time in 26 years, the rockabilly trio the Stray Cats will be releasing a new album entitled 40. They will also embark on a summer world tour, hitting many cities in Europe as well as the U.S.
The band, consisting of singer-guitarist Brian Setzer, bassist Lee Rocker, and drummer Slim Jim Phantom, will mark their 40th anniversary with the new LP and tour.
Regarding the album, Rocker said “This new album really feels like the first record we did; it’s really natural and comfortable.” “For the recording, we went live –– like doing a gig, we recorded in a real, organic way. We were all in one room standing next to each other recording live, with the amps turned up to 10. It captured the undefinable things that happen when a band is great. It captured the magic that takes place and an undefined spark.”
40 is currently available for pre-order, and will be released on May 24. The first single off of the album, “Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me),” is available now. Also, as part of Record Store Day, the band will release an exclusive 12-inch picture disc including new songs.
The European leg of their summer tour begins on June 21 in Vitoria, Spain and ends on July 20 in Falun, Sweden. The U.S. leg starts Aug. 3 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and wraps Aug. 31 in San Diego, California. Ticket information can be found on their website.
