Red Hot Chili Peppers Release New Song 'Poster Child'

Red Hot Chili Peppers have shared a second preview of their twelfth studio album Unlimited Love: a new single titled "Poster Child."

To clarify, “Poster Child” is the second single from Unlimited Love. It follows the early February release of “Black Summer” - their first new music since guitarist John Frusciante rejoined the lineup in 2019.

"Poster Child" is a funky bop that honors the poster children of the 20th century. Lead singer Anthony Kiedis makes several pop culture references to iconic musicians, actors, politicians, religious figures, and films. In the end, Kiedis accepts his status as a poster child of alternative rock – even if his rock legacy is based on the wild life he’s led. Currently, the track's animated music video is exclusively available to watch on Facebook.

The funk style of the track is similar to many of the Peppers' classics such as "Can’t Stop," "Mellowship Slinky in B Major," "By the Way," and "Walkabout." Its release comes after the Peppers announced a stadium tour happening in June. They will have support from a number of popular artists, including A$AP Rocky, Thundercat, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Haim, Beck, The Strokes, King Princess, and St. Vincent.

Unlimited Love is the follow-up to the band's previous album, The Getaway, which was released in 2016. It is set to drop April 1. You can pre-order and pre-save Unlimited Love here.
